PRODUCT FAQ
-
What is the Trizact PSA Film Disc 268XA primarily used for?
The Trizact PSA Film Disc 268XA is designed for precision fine finishing and polishing applications.
-
Can you tell me about its abrasive properties?
The disc features a unique pyramid-shaped structure of alternating layers of sharp ceramic abrasive particles, which provides consistent finishes with minimal grit shedding.
-
How many discs come in a case and what are their dimensions?
Each case contains twenty (20) film discs that measure 24 inches by no-hole (NH), and feature an A10 grade to provide optimal uniformity.
3M™ Trizact™ PSA Film Disc 268XA is a high-quality abrasive disc that features a polyester backing, making it water-resistant and suitable for both wet and dry sanding. This disc is commonly used for damp sanding on a variety of substrates, including acrylic products, solid surface materials, and glass. Using a lubricant like water helps the disc run cool and wash away debris that could warp or discolor the substrate.
3M™ Trizact™ PSA Film Disc 268XA uses 3M microreplication technology to produce an engineered surface of patterned, microscopic, three-dimensional structures resembling pyramids. While conventionally coated abrasives often have erratically spaced mineral, Trizact™ abrasives focus on uniformity. As pyramids wear, fresh, sharp mineral is exposed to produce a consistent cut and a predictable, fine finish.
Altogether, this means fewer scraps and discards as a consequence of inconsistent results. Ongoing sharp cutting action minimizes the need to incorporate other abrasives in the sequence, thereby reducing processing steps and enhancing productivity.
PSA AttachmentThe pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) on the back of 3M™ Trizact™ PSA Film Disc 268XA helps facilitate easy disc to tool attachment. Attaching them to a disc pad is as simple as pressing on a sticker. The PSA disc can be peeled off of the disc pad just as easily, leaving a clean surface for the next disc. Disc rolls offer the convenience of quickly tearing off a disc and eliminate the need to remove individual disc liners. PSA discs are used in conjunction with a PSA or 3M™ Stikit™ backup pad (also called a disc pad and sold separately) that is attached to a random orbital sander.
Great Versatility3M™ Trizact™ PSA Film Disc 268XA is available in a range of grades A5 to A35, so operators can choose the right grade for their unique application; the lower the A-grade, the finer the grade. So, operators should select a smaller grade, like A5, for a fine finish and a larger grade, like A35, for a coarser finish. Discs are color-coded by grade, to reduce the risk of mistakenly selecting the wrong grade in a sequence.
Regardless of the grade selected, operators can rely on great performance with this 3M™ Trizact™ disc – using it as a go-to abrasive for fast cutting action and consistent finishes, part after part.
