Scotch-Brite Premium Blend and Finish Flap Brush is a versatile tool commonly used for aggressive finishing and mild cleaning and deburring. It is designed to cut aggressively while leaving behind an even and consistent finish. This flap brush is ideal for achieving fine finishes on tools like saw blades, as well as for deburring and finishing on parts such as surgical tools and medical equipment trays. One of its key advantages is that it enables operators to deburr and finish in a single step, enhancing productivity.

The Anatomy of Flap Brushes

The Scotch-Brite Premium Blend and Finish Flap Brush is constructed by adhering individual sheets of abrasive material to a steel or fiberglass core at a 90-degree angle. The steel cores have a diameter of 5.75 inches, and the red cores are specifically designed to fit flat finishing machines. This flap brush is categorized as "Type L," which means it is approximately four times thicker than regular Clean and Finish web, resulting in enhanced abrasive durability.

When used within the recommended RPM range, this brush minimizes the risk of chatter. As it spins, the flaps rotate centrifugally and maintain continuous contact with the workpiece. The wide flaps deflect slightly and abrade the surface, eliminating residual traces or marks that can be left by singular discs or discs ganged on a shaft. The brush can be used with various tools, including backstand, match and finish sander, and a centerless grinder.

Scotch-Brite Premium Blend and Finish Flap Brush incorporates coarse aluminum oxide mineral into its open web. Aluminum oxide is a popular choice among industrial professionals due to its hardness, strength, and durability.
