The Scotch-Brite SE Surface Conditioning Belt is designed to provide a superior finish on metal surfaces.
-
What makes the A/O Fine belt stand out from other abrasives?
The A/O (aluminum oxide) fine blend of minerals allows for an optimal grain combination that delivers consistent results throughout its life.
-
How long does each belt last before it needs replacement?
The lifespan of these belts depends on usage and workload, but with proper maintenance, they can be used multiple times.
-
. Can I use this belt on non-metallic materials such as plastic or wood?
. While this product was made specifically for prepping and finishing metallic surfaces, it may work on plastics, wood or composite substrates depending on surface robustness and hardness
-
. Do you offer custom sizes outside of 1/2 inch by 18 inches?
. Yes! We certainly do – please reach out to our support team with your desired specifications so we can find options specific to your preferences/facilities/location etc…
Scotch-Brite™ SE Surface Conditioning Belt is a high-performance abrasive belt that is constructed of resin-reinforced non-woven fiber. This belt is designed to resist loading and avoid under-cutting or gouging of the work piece. It exhibits high initial and extended rates of cut, while maintaining superior edge durability. All belts may be used for "low stretch" applications.
The belt includes a woven fabric (scrim) that is embedded in the nylon structure to provide additional strength and durability for edge work, deburring, and efficient blending of all metal types. The non-woven material combined with abrasive grain is an ideal way to add a great finish or remove burrs. Trust Scotch-Brite™ Belts to deliver fantastic finishes.
Scotch-Brite™ SE Surface Conditioning Belt uses course grade aluminum oxide abrasive. This mineral is a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges in use, whereas traditional abrasives, such as garnet, quickly wear down with use. Due to its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing use. Aluminum oxide is suitable on a wide variety of substrates in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
Belt sanders are used for rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on a variety of surfaces. Depending on the material being worked, sanding wheels and discs may clog, quickly making them less efficient, while belt sanders continue to sand without clogging because small grooves in the abrasive belt open as they go around the arc of the drive wheel.
