PRODUCT FAQ
-
What is the Scotch-Brite™ SE Surface Conditioning Belt?
The Scotch-Brite™ SE Surface Conditioning Belt is an abrasive belt designed to remove surface defects, rust, light corrosion, and other imperfections from metal parts.
-
What makes the SE-BS variant different?
The SE-BS version of the surface conditioning belt is specifically designed for finishing tasks requiring fine grades while allowing easy conformability on curved surfaces for consistent finishes.
-
What size are these belts and how many of them come in a case?
These belts are 3-1/2 in x 15-1/2 in. A single case contains ten (10) pieces.
-
Can I use this belt on non-metallic materials like wood or ceramics?
Although it may work depending upon specific condition and application this particular type-A/O Fine variety works best with metals only
-
; How do I install these belts onto my sander?
; It's recommended that you consult your machine manual instructions before setting up any new sanding belts to avoid undue wear & tear but generally speaking you must make sure your tool has platen(s), tracking adjustment knob, tension mechanism , wheel alignment for optimal performance.
Scotch-Brite™ SE Surface Conditioning Belt is a high-performance abrasive belt that is constructed of resin-reinforced non-woven fiber. This belt is designed to resist loading and avoid under-cutting or gouging of the work piece. It exhibits high initial and extended rates of cut, while maintaining superior edge durability. All belts may be used for "low stretch" applications.
The belt includes a woven fabric (scrim) that is embedded in the nylon structure to provide additional strength and durability for edge work, deburring, and efficient blending of all metal types. The non-woven material combined with abrasive grain is an ideal way to add a great finish or remove burrs. Trust Scotch-Brite™ Belts to deliver fantastic finishes.
Scotch-Brite™ SE Surface Conditioning Belt uses course grade aluminum oxide abrasive. This mineral is a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges in use, whereas traditional abrasives, such as garnet, quickly wear down with use. Due to its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing use. Aluminum oxide is suitable on a wide variety of substrates in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
Belt sanders are used for rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on a variety of surfaces. Depending on the material being worked, sanding wheels and discs may clog, quickly making them less efficient, while belt sanders continue to sand without clogging because small grooves in the abrasive belt open as they go around the arc of the drive wheel.
