PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What is the purpose of 3M™ Microfinishing Film Roll 468L?

The 3M™ Microfinishing Film Roll 468L is primarily used for fine finishing and polishing applications on metal, plastic, and painted surfaces.

  2. What does "100 Mic, 3MIL" mean in the description?

These are measurements of the thickness of the film. It means that it is very thin (100 microns or .1 millimeters) but also very durable (3 mils or .0762mm).

  3. Can it be used with water or oil as a lubricant when sanding?

Yes! The TE (Treated Aluminum Oxide) abrasive allows you to use water or oil as a lubricant while sanding.

  4. Is this product environmentally friendly?

Yes! This product has a special coating called SP (Stearated Coating), which helps reduce loading and extends its life. As well, it generates less dust during use which can improve workplace air quality.

  5. How long will this roll last me if I purchase one case?

The answer depends on how much you are using it per application; however, each roll comes in at an impressive 18 inches by 150 feet by three inches - so plenty to get your various jobs done.

Flexible Design

The 3M™ Microfinishing Film Roll 468L is designed with a flexible and durable resin-bonded abrasive that can withstand high heat and pressure while maintaining reliable performance. The polyester film backing provides greater tear-resistance than comparable paper products, making it perfect for high-production environments. This roll is available in a range of micron grades, allowing for complete multi-step sanding and finishing.

Silicon Carbide Abrasive

The 3M™ Microfinishing Film Roll 468L features precision, micron-graded silicon carbide abrasive. This type of abrasive is a popular choice among industrial professionals due to its fast cut-rate and smooth finish. Silicon carbide is very sharp and is commonly used for low-pressure applications such as paint prep and metal finishing. Although it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a smoother finish.
