The adhesive used in 3M™ Adhesive Transfer Tape 9498 is a medium-firm pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive system. It has a good balance of initial adhesion and shear holding power. Shear strength is the measure of pull force directed across the bonded surface, forcing the two surfaces to slide over each other. The adhesive has a consistently strong bond across a range of temperatures, from 180°F (82°C) long term to 250°F (121°C) short term and in 450ºF (232ºC) if dwell times are ten seconds or less. The tape uses a robust 60 lb. densified kraft paper release liner, providing reliable performance for industrial applications, such as die-cutting and automated dispensers.
What is Adhesive Transfer Tape?3M™ Adhesive Transfer Tapes are rolls of pressure sensitive adhesive pre-applied to a special release liner. To apply, simply press the tape, adhesive side down, to a surface and peel off the liner. A variety of adhesive properties and liners are available to meet requirements for applications such as nameplate attachment to high and low surface energy plastics, appliance graphic overlays that perform in high temperatures, foam gasketing, web splicing, signs, posters, banners, point-of-purchase displays, and more.
