PRODUCT FAQ
-
What is the size of the 3M™ Cloth Belt 577F, 40 YF-weight?
The size of this belt is 3/4 in x 18 in.
-
How many belts do I get per case when ordering the 3M™ Cloth Belt 577F, single-flex?
Each case contains a total of 200 belts.
-
Is Fabri-lok used in the manufacturing process for these belts?
Yes, Fabri-Lok technology is used to ensure that the abrasive particles remain firmly bonded to the backing material even during intense use.
-
What does YF stand for on this cloth belt?
YF indicates that it has a blend of aluminum oxide and ceramic grain formulation. This combination makes it one tough grinding instrument that works exceptionally well on extremely hard metals.
3M™ Cloth Belt 577F is a versatile abrasive belt that is ideal for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings made of aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel or other exotic metal alloys. This belt is designed to reduce running temperatures and protect heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys. The grinding aid incorporated in the belt helps to reduce heat buildup, while the abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. The alumina zirconia abrasive fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points and deliver a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide. This synthetic mineral was developed for heavy stock removal and high-pressure grinding.
Sized to Suit Your NeedsAbrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding tools for many different metalworking applications. 3M offers a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders and feed-through style flat finishers to smooth rough-cut edges of metal sheets or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are generally used on a backstand for weld removal or for imparting a finish. Narrow belts can be used on file tools to access right angle corners for finishing.
