PRODUCT FAQ
-
What is the grit size of 3M™ Cloth Belt 577F?
The 3M™ Cloth Belt 577F has a YF-weight and comes with a grit size of 100.
-
How many belts are included in each case of the 3M™ Cloth Belt 577F?
Each case of the 3M™ Cloth Belt 577F contains five single-flex, Film-lok, cloth belts that measure a standard size of about37 in x60 in.
-
Can you explain what "Film-Lok" means in regards to the belt's design?
Sure! The "Film-Lok" feature on our cloth belts involves adding a film backing top layer onto an abrasive surfacefor added durability. It also ensures that abrasive grains resist loading or clogging during heavy-duty use, making it perfect for industrial processes such as grinding, burring or sanding.
Runs Cool on Heat-Sensitive Metals
3M™ Cloth Belt 577F is a versatile abrasive belt that is ideal for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings made of aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel or other exotic metal alloys. This belt is designed to reduce running temperatures and protect heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys. The grinding aid incorporated in the belt helps to reduce heat buildup during use. The abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points and deliver a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide. A synthetic mineral, it was developed for heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding.
Sized to Suit Your Needs
Abrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding tools for many different metalworking applications. 3M offers a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders and feed-through style flat finishers to smooth rough-cut edges of metal sheets, or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are generally used on a backstand for weld removal or for imparting a finish. Narrow belts can be used on file tools to access right angle corners for finishing.
