PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What type of material is the Cloth Belt 577F made of?

The Cloth Belt 577F is made up of high-performance abrasive grain, backed by a durable cloth backing.

  2. Can I use this belt to grind metals and alloys?

Yes, you can. The Cloth Belt 577F is suitable for grinding various metals and alloys such as steel, stainless steel, nickel alloy, titanium and more.

  3. How long does the belt last on average?

Usually it depends on your usage rate. However, with its superior design and construction featuring Film-lok technology that bonds the abrasive to the backing strong enough to resist heat buildup due continuous frictional pressure increases longevity.

  4. Does it come in different sizes or colors?

The specific product we are talking about has a size of 37 in x75 in but there are other joint types available along with an array of grits ranging from 36-1200.There aren't any color options since they all feature same colour suited depending upon industry specification requirements.

  5. Q:Is there an order minimum amount required for purchase?

A : You have full discretion when purchasing how much or how little belts you need given that it's within case quantity; which involves five sanding belts per case

Runs Cool on Heat-Sensitive Metals

3M™ Cloth Belt 577F is a versatile abrasive belt that is ideal for dimensioning parts, deburring, blending, and finishing castings and forgings made of aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel or other exotic metal alloys. This belt is designed to reduce running temperatures and protect heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys. The grinding aid incorporated in the belt helps to reduce heat buildup during use. The abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure. Alumina zirconia fractures frequently to continually produce sharp points and deliver a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide. A synthetic mineral, it was developed for heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding.

Sized to Suit Your Needs

Abrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding tools for many different metalworking applications. 3M offers a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders and feed-through style flat finishers to smooth rough-cut edges of metal sheets, or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are generally used on a backstand for weld removal or for imparting a finish. Narrow belts can be used on file tools to access right angle corners for finishing.
