This tan, conformable tape features an abrasion resistant backing ideal for use with plating chemicals, anodizing chemicals, milling, etching and peening operations.

  1. What is 3M™ Electroplating Tape 470?

    3M™ Electroplating Tape 470 is a high-temperature resistant tape designed for electroplating operations. It has excellent chemical resistance and can withstand temperatures up to 266°F (130°C).

  2. What are the dimensions of this tape roll?

    The size of each roll of the tape is 101.6 mm x 32.9 m.

  3. How many rolls come in a case?

    Each case contains eight rolls of the tape.

  4. Is this specific type of electroplating tape available in different colors or sizes?

    The color option available for our customers as tan, however we do offer other types of tapes that vary in both color and size options that may be better suited to meet your needs.

  5. Can this product be used for anything else besides electroplating operations?

    While it was specifically designed with electroplating applications in mind, some users have found success applying this product where they require heat and chemical resistance along with conformability such as masking during painting or powder coating processes or sealing components during industrial manufacturing processes.

Rugged Reliability

3M™ Electroplating Tape 470 is designed to withstand the harsh and challenging conditions associated with electroplating and anodizing processes. Its flexible vinyl backing conforms to irregular or curved surfaces. It is resistant to most common solvents and has excellent resistance to chemicals used in electroplating and anodizing. This tape can operate at temperatures of up to 170°F/76°C. After use, the tape can be removed cleanly from most surfaces. The backing can also accept marker ink and is printable using a thermal transfer process, making customization relatively easy when needed.
