The Benefits of Silicon Carbide Abrasive Sheets

Silicon carbide abrasive sheets are a superior choice for achieving a smooth finish on painted metal and wood substrates. Compared to aluminum oxide or garnet abrasive products, silicon carbide creates a smoother finish. Its resin bond construction provides superior grain retention, while the open coat construction and load resistant coating combine to provide excellent antiloading characteristics.

The light A-weight backing of the sheets provides conformability over contours and into crevasses and corners. Additionally, the sheets can be easily cut to fit a hand pad block, inline sanders, or finishing or power sanders. These versatile sanding sheets contain the ideal abrasive grain type and grades for multi-step finishing processes.

Other applications for silicon carbide abrasive sheets include general sanding, finishing, blending, surface leveling, and prep prior to staining or painting.

The Advantages of Silicon Carbide

Silicon carbide is a synthetic mineral that is very sharp and commonly used for final finishing in white wood sanding. While it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a superior finish. Silicon carbide is an excellent choice for achieving a smooth, high-quality finish on a variety of surfaces.
