PRODUCT FAQ
-
What does 3M Tape Primer 94 do?
3M Tape Primer 94 is a bonding enhancer that increases the adhesion of adhesive tapes to surfaces. The primer creates an extra layer of sealing, increasing tape effectiveness.
-
How do I apply the primer?
You should use a clean cloth or lint-free wipe to apply a thin coat of the primer onto the surface (where you want to stick your tape). It's important not to overapply it. Allow it dry completely before applying any tape.
-
Can I use this with all types of tapes?
Yes, 3M Tape Primer can be used with most kinds of pressure-sensitive tapes including vinyl, polyethylene and reinforced materials.
-
. In what situations would it be ideal for me to use this product
. If you're working on something that needs strong adhesion from an adhesive tape then using our product can help enhance its bond strength. Applying primers will also ensure better performance in extreme temperatures and environments where humidity could affect adhesive performance lengths
For optimal results, ensure that the surface is clean and dry before applying a thin, uniform coat of 3M™ Tape Primer 94. It is important to use the minimum amount of product necessary, as over-application can lead to sub-optimal results. The primed surface must remain free from contaminants before applying the tape. Allow the primer to dry completely, which usually takes about 5 minutes at room temperature, before applying the tape. If the surface is porous, it may require two applications for uniform coverage and good adhesion. Allow the first application of primer to dry before applying a second coat.
Recommended Applications- Promote adhesion of 3M™ VHB™ Tape
- For use on many plastic, rubber, painted and bare metal substrates
3M™ Tape Primer 94 can be applied using a brush, swab, pressurized flow gun, knurled roller, or similar type of equipment. It can be removed with isopropyl alcohol, although vigorous scrubbing may be required.
