This fastener is designed with hundreds of interlocking mushroom-shaped stems made of polypropylene. The Dual Lock fasteners are constructed with polyolefin stems that hold tight regardless of high heat, cold, moisture, or humidity. In fact, they not only hold tight but also reduce vibration and rattling, making them an excellent attachment solution when vibration is a concern.

How It Works
The 3M Dual Lock Reclosable Fastener is a roll good that features a polyolefin non-woven loop backing, allowing for easy attachment with hot melt or liquid adhesives to substrates.

When two pieces of the fastener are pressed together, the stems flex and the mushroom heads slide past each other. Once they pass the opposing mating piece, the stems snap back into their original position, and the mushroom heads interlock. This mechanism provides high tensile strength, but the closure can be opened by simply cleaving or peeling it open. Alignment and re-alignment are effortless, requiring no special tools. This means that components can be attached using these fasteners before they enter the final assembly plant, reducing the number of parts and assembly time.

Stem Densities
The Dual Lock fasteners are available in three different densities (stems per square inch): 170, 250, and 400. The SJ3753 fastener has 400 stems per square inch (25mm), offering the tightest hold. It can be mated to Type 170 or 250, providing adjustable and proportional engagement and disengagement force to meet specific application requirements.
