The belt is made with fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grains that are bonded to a heavy polyester cloth backing. The backing is durable and heat-resistant, making it suitable for both wet and dry applications.
The grades of P100 and lower are backed with YF-weight polyester, while grades higher than P100 are backed with slightly less stiff XF-weight polyester. This ensures that the belt is strong enough to withstand high heat and pressure, making it ideal for use on a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
