The disc is equipped with an anti-load coating and open coat surface, which effectively minimizes loading and allows for optimal performance. The abrasive is resin-bonded, providing flexibility without compromising durability, ensuring reliable performance even under high heat and pressure conditions.

The polyester film backing of the disc is designed to flex, enabling consistent finishing over contours. It also offers superior tear-resistance compared to similar paper products, making it an ideal choice for high-production environments. The pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) ensures easy attachment, securely holding the disc in place during use, and can be cleanly removed from the backup pad (sold separately).

The 3M Microfinishing PSA Film Disc 366L features precision, micron-graded aluminum oxide as its abrasive material. This choice of mineral is highly favored by industrial professionals due to its fast cut-rate and long life. The aluminum oxide is a tough and durable abrasive that self-fractures, exposing fresh cutting edges. This characteristic sets it apart from traditional natural abrasives, which tend to dull more quickly. Its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength make it suitable for a wide range of applications, including grinding, sanding, and finishing in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
