PRODUCT FAQ
-
What makes the Scotch-Brite Cut and Polish Wheel unique compared to other abrasive wheels?
The Scotch-Brite Cut and Polish Wheel is a non-woven web of synthetic fibers combined with abrasive particles, which provides a fine finish without damaging the workpiece.
-
Can I use this on my car's paint job?
It depends on your vehicle's paint. If it has clear coat type finishes, you can use the CP-WL wheel for removing minor scratches or oxide film from surfaces like aluminum parts.
-
What materials can be used with this wheel?
You can use our CP-WL Fine Cut & polish wheel to remove rust stains and discoloration from stainless steel surfaces, among other metals such as copper, brass or chrome.
-
How fast should I run my drill while using this polishing pad?
The recommended operating speed range is between 2000 - 4000 RPM. Running the tool faster than its capacity will generate heat build-up that could damage both your equipment and material.
-
Is there any extra safety information I need before using these products?
: Please make sure to wear appropriate protective gear for eye protection during all surface grinding activities, not just when using these wheels but throughout an entire project where sanding may occur
Scotch-Brite™ Cut and Polish Wheels use aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives are unique surface conditioning products with abrasives incorporated into non-woven nylon or other synthetic fibers. Combining abrasives into the fibers creates an abrasive system that delivers consistent results for the life of the product. The open-web material is load resistant and keeps the abrasive minerals cutting at high performance by limiting clogging of the fibers.
Cut and Polish Wheels help to remove surface defects and coarse grindlines, blend forging marks and machining mismatches while leaving a uniform grain finish. These wheels are available in a range of diameters and widths and can be used with robotics, inline sanders, bench motors, backstands and centerless grinders.
