PRODUCT FAQ
-
What type of surface can the Scotch-Brite™ Surface Conditioning Disc be used on?
The SC-DH, A/O Medium Scotch-Brite™ Surface Conditioning Disc can be safely used on metal surfaces and is ideal for maintenance applications.
-
Can I use this product for heavy rust removal or sanding?
While it may remove light rust or oxidation buildup, SC-DH discs are designed to provide fine finishes without altering surface geometry or dimensions. Heavy-duty 3M abrasives may provide better results in these cases.
-
How long will the disc last with regular use?
Depending on usage conditions such as pressure applied and extent/severity of material being removed, each SC-DH disc typically lasts up to an hour before requiring replacement.
-
Is the product a pack of separate discs or one piece that attaches to my equipment's sander cushion?
Each unit includes a bag with 25 individual conditioning disks that attach securely to your device's NH mount pad. One case contains 100 bags total (2500 discs).
-
Are there any recommended cleaning methods for reuse and extending disk life span?
As you continue working overtime with your disks, they will naturally become clogged from debris build-up and lose effectiveness in removing materials. To extend their lifespan after extended usage periods, we recommend using compressed air by blasting out collected residue frequently so you can keep working without having to replace them prematurely!
Scotch-Brite™ Surface Conditioning Disc
The Scotch-Brite™ Surface Conditioning Disc uses aluminum oxide abrasive. Aluminum oxide is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its cut-rate and long life. This mineral is a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges in use, whereas traditional abrasives, such as garnet, quickly wear down with use. Due to its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing use. Aluminum oxide is suitable on a wide variety of substrates in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
Scotch-Brite™ Industrial Abrasives
Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives are unique surface conditioning products with abrasives incorporated into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers. Combining abrasives with the fibers creates an abrasive system that delivers consistent results for the life of the product. The open-web material runs cool and is load resistant, which keeps the abrasive minerals cutting at high performance by limiting clogging of the fibers.
