PRODUCT FAQ
-
What is the 3M™ Utility Cloth Roll 314D made of?
The cloth roll 314D is constructed with aluminum oxide mineral and a high strength J-weight backing material, making it an effective tool for cleaning, finishing or light deburring.
-
Is the 1 inch width of this cloth roll convenient to use in various applications?
Absolutely! It gives you more control than wider rolls when reaching into tight spaces or around intricate shapes.
-
Can I use the cloth roll on wet surfaces or fluids without compromising its performance?
Yes. The utility cloth roll can be used both dry and wet as it has an open coat construction which prevents loading even while working with water-based fluids.
Product Description:
The sanding strip roll is a versatile product that allows for tearing of the desired length for specific applications. The majority of grades have a light, J-weight cloth backing that provides the flexibility needed to conform to circular edges, angles, or other contours. However, rolls in grades P50 or P60 have a slightly stiffer X-weight backing suitable for more coarse sanding applications. The cloth remains durable even when bent or rolled, without tearing or shelling, but strips can be torn by hand when a smaller piece is needed, without compromising the sanding surface.
Aluminum Oxide:
Aluminum oxide is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. It can be used on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, wood, and plastic.
