Product Description: 3M Scotch-Weld Epoxy Adhesive DP125

When it comes to using a Duo-Pak (DP) size adhesive, you can rely on 3M dispensing equipment for convenient and accurate metering, mixing, and dispensing. Our versatile and medium viscosity epoxy adhesive, 3M Scotch-Weld Epoxy Adhesive DP125, is designed to pour easily with minimal dripping, running, and migration. It flows smoothly for controlled and accurate dispensing, making it an ideal choice for various applications involving dissimilar surfaces.

One of the key features of our epoxy adhesive is its flexibility, which allows for higher peel strength and better vibration resistance. This makes it particularly suitable for bonding glass to metals, where coefficients of thermal expansion need to be taken into consideration.

Recommended Applications:
  • General attachment applications in a variety of industries
  • Replacing 5-minute epoxy for improved performance and more positioning time

With a 25-minute work life, our epoxy adhesive provides ample time for repositioning, ensuring that your projects stay on track. It reaches handling strength in approximately 150 minutes and is fully cured in 7 days at 72°F/22°C.

Understanding Epoxy Adhesives:

Epoxy adhesives, including our Scotch-Weld Epoxy Adhesive DP125, belong to the class of adhesives known as "structural adhesives." These adhesives, which also include polyurethane, acrylic, cyanoacrylate, and others, are formulated as liquid reactive polymers. When mixed, they undergo a chemical reaction and cure to form a solid plastic material.

Once the two parts of our epoxy adhesive are mixed in their specified ratio, they begin the curing process, providing a limited working time during which the adhesive can be applied and the two surfaces positioned as needed. This work life can range from a few minutes to several hours.

Epoxy adhesives offer high shear and peel strengths, depending on the formula, as well as better heat and chemical resistance compared to other common adhesives. They are known for their overall strength, excellent performance, and resistance to high temperatures, solvents, and outdoor weathering.

Epoxy adhesive, often referred to as epoxy glue, finds wide application in various industries, including building and home construction, aircraft and automobile manufacturing, and the assembly of bicycles, boats, golf clubs, skis, and snowboards. It is also commonly used for home projects and other applications where high-strength bonds and resistance to environmental conditions are required.

These adhesives are popular due to their ease of use, mechanical strength, and chemical resistance. They can be formulated to meet specific requirements, such as creating epoxy for plastic that is flexible or epoxy for metal that is rigid, epoxy resin that is transparent or opaque, and quick-setting or slow-setting epoxy. This versatility allows for bonding wood, metal, glass, stone, and various plastics, making epoxy adhesives suitable for a wide range of applications.
