3M Finesse-it Hookit Film Disc 464LA is an extension of the channel concept introduced with the 460LA but formulated for even easier breakdown, this design helps to reduce debris loading and extend disc life as well. This disc uses 3Ms microreplicated technology that helps remove surface imperfections from clearcoats without changing the surface topography. The 3M Hookit attachment is ideal for automated systems to easily attach, remove and replace the disc without operator intervention.
- CHANNELS INCORPORATED to reduce debris loading and extend disc life
- EASIER BREAKDOWN formulation as compared to 3M™ Finesse-it™ Hookit™ Film Disc 460LA
- CONSISTENT RESULTS as the abrasives reveal new cutting surfaces with each use
- SAND WITH CONFIDENCE as the micro-structured silicon carbide cuts sharply, removing imperfections without gouging
- AUTOMATION COMPATIBLE because of the 3M™ Hookit™ attachment, which allows for easy application and removal
- GRADES AVAILABLE in A3, A5 and A7

-
Is there any specific application or usage recommendation for these film discs?
The 3M™ Finesse-it™ Hookit™ Film Discs excel in finishing applications such as automotive paint repair, wood finishing, or composite material polishing due to their fine finish capabilities.
3M Trizact abrasives are designed to maintain their sharpness over time, resulting in more predictable finishes and improved quality. The 3M Trizact Hookit Film Disc 464LA is created using microreplication technology, which involves the use of microscopic, three-dimensional structures resembling pyramids. These abrasives are commonly used for removing defects in paint and clear coats, preparing surfaces for final polishing. The silicon carbide mineral used in these abrasives cuts sharply while still leaving a fine finish on sensitive surfaces.
Hookit Attachment Helps Enhance Productivity and ThroughputFor workspaces where adhesive backed discs may become contaminated by dust or dirt, 3M offers a complete line of hook-and-loop style 3M Hookit discs. These sanding discs can be conveniently attached to a hook-and-loop backup disc pad (sold separately), and can be easily removed and reused multiple times throughout the life of the abrasive. This helps enhance productivity and throughput in various applications.
3M Science and the Power of Trizact Abrasives3M has been a pioneer in using tiny, precisely shaped structures to give materials new properties. This approach is also applied to Trizact abrasives, where the cycle of mineral renewal sustains the sharpness of the abrasive. The ongoing sharp cutting action reduces the need to frequently replace the abrasive, leading to higher throughput, increased productivity, and a consistent cut.
3M's Legacy in AbrasivesWith a history of over a century, 3M began as an abrasives manufacturer and has continuously refined its original technologies while incorporating breakthrough inventions from other 3M businesses. Today, 3M abrasives leverage traditional strengths such as adhesives and coatings, as well as the latest technologies including micro- and macroreplication, ceramic, and nonwoven materials. This comprehensive range of abrasives allows for easy and precise shaping, finishing, and polishing.
