How It Works
The Dual Lock fastener is attached to various substrates using pressure-sensitive adhesive. It can then be mated to a second Dual Lock fastener attached to a piece of trim or another part. When the two fasteners are pressed together, the stems flex and the mushroom heads slide past each other. Once the opposing mating piece is passed, the stems snap back into their original position, and the mushroom heads interlock, creating a secure bond. These fasteners offer high tensile strength but can be easily opened by cleaving or peeling open the closure.
Alignment and re-alignment are effortless, and no special tools are required for assembly. This makes them suitable for attaching components before they enter the final assembly plant, reducing the number of parts and assembly time.
Stem Densities
The Dual Lock fasteners are available in three different densities: 170, 250, and 400 stems per square inch. The SJ3751 fastener, in particular, has 400 stems per square inch, providing the tightest hold. It can be mated with Type 170 or 250 fasteners. However, it should not be mated with another Type 400 fastener as the engagement would be too tight, potentially causing damage to the parts.
