The abrasive used in this belt is our proprietary Cubitron™ ceramic grain abrasive.
Can I use this belt to sand on metals like stainless steel, carbon steel and alloys?

Yes, you can. In fact, it's ideal for those applications because it has faster cut rates and longer life than conventional abrasives.
Is there a specific machine that I should be using with this product?

This cloth belt works well on wide belt sanders. You'll need a machine that offers high horsepower and wet/dry capabilities depending on your application needs.
How long does each belt last?

That will depend very much on the application you're using it for, but tests have shown that they can last up to five times longer than conventional belts while delivering a faster cut rate.
Is this product environmentally friendly?

This belt produces a uniform finish over the life of the product and helps eliminate burning during end-grain sanding. The heavyweight cloth backing provides durability, and the ceramic 3M Precision-Shaped Grain mineral is resin-bonded to the backing for reliable performance, even under high heat and pressure.

To reduce premature belt loading, 3M™ Cubitron™ II Cloth Belt 970DZ is engineered with an open-coat construction and an anti-static coating on the abrasive. The anti-static coating optimizes dust collection when used with an efficient dust collection system.
