3M Scotch-Weld Epoxy Potting Compound DP270 is a rigid, two-part epoxy adhesive with a 1:1 mix ratio and 70 minute work life. It provides initial strength in about 3 hours with approximately 2,500 PSI at 72F (22C). This epoxy compound is designed to be low viscosity, making it easy to dispense and pot. It is also non-corrosive to copper. The compound offers good resistance to medical sterilization and is available in black opaque and transparent amber.
Epoxy Recommended Applications- Potting and bonding electrical components
Epoxy adhesives are a type of structural adhesive, along with polyurethane, acrylic, cyanoacrylate, and others. These adhesives are formulated as liquid reactive polymers that undergo a chemical reaction when mixed and then cure to form a solid plastic material. The curing process begins once the two parts are mixed in their specified ratio, allowing for a limited working time to apply the adhesive and position the surfaces as needed. The work life of epoxy adhesives can range from a few minutes to several hours.
Epoxy adhesives offer high shear and peel strengths, depending on the formula, and have better heat and chemical resistance compared to other common adhesives. They are known for their overall strength, excellent performance, and resistance to high temperatures, solvents, and outdoor weathering.
Epoxy adhesive, also known as epoxy glue, is widely used in various industries such as building and home construction, aircraft and automobile manufacturing, and sports equipment assembly. It is also commonly used for household applications. These adhesives are favored for their ease of use, mechanical strength, and chemical resistance. Formulations can be tailored to meet specific requirements, such as creating flexible epoxy for plastic or rigid epoxy for metal. Epoxy adhesives can bond materials like wood, metal, glass, stone, and various plastics. Their versatility makes them suitable for a wide range of bonding needs.
