3M Cubitron II Cloth Belt 723D features 3M Precision Shaped Grain to deliver longer life and a faster, more consistent cut than aluminum oxide belts. The flexible J-weight backing offers optimal flexibility for removing defects and surface imperfections, even on tight contours and complex parts such as medical instruments.

  • Flexible cloth backing provides ideal conformability for blending and finishing contours and complex parts
  • Lighter weight backing is ideal for medium to fine grades and reduces cost
  • 3M Precision Shaped Grain provides superior durability and cut-rate, along with consistent performance, which translates to higher production rates
  • Precision Shaped Grain provides up to 2x longer life than comparable aluminum oxide belts, which means a lower cost per part and less time lost to belt changeovers
  • Suitable for dry applications
  • Durable resin bond resists deterioration from heat, extending the life of the abrasive cloth

PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What is the size of the 3M™ Cubitron™ II Cloth Belt 723D?

The size of our 3M™ Cubitron™ II Cloth Belt 723D is 1/2 in x 10 in.

  2. What does J-weight mean?

J-weight refers to the weight and flexibility of the cloth backing. In this case, it means that it's a flexible and durable cloth backing for improved cutting power and durability.

  3. How many belts come per case of the 3M™ Cubitron™ II Cloth Belt 723D?

There are a total of 500 belts per case.

  4. What is grit level rating for these belts?

The grit level for our Cubitron II Cloth Belts is rated at an impressive180+ which ensures an aggressive performance as compared to conventional abrasives like aluminum oxide or zirconia alumina on medium-low presssure applications

  5. . Can you tell me more about its intended use/application?

The super-sharp abrasive minerals in each belt cut cooler and last longer so operators can achieve consistent results on tough substrates including high nickel alloy, stainless steel & carbon steel among another wide range of category metals including plating, cast iron, brass copper alloys while avoiding unwanted heat affected zone (HAZ). These premium quality abrasive cloth bands finds their ideal application in general metal fabrication jobs, grinding, maintenance and repair operations across different industries including metalworking , marine amongst others where fast material removal with longer life span is desired from shop floor standardization viewpoint

Flexible Backing

3M™ Cubitron™ II Cloth Belt 723D is made with a combination of 3M Precision Shaped Grain (PSG) and premium aluminum oxide, which provides increased durability and cutting efficiency compared to non-ceramic abrasives. The belt is backed with a flexible cotton cloth that can easily follow contours and wrap around parts to avoid over-grinding. The flexibility of the belt also makes it a great choice when using a soft contact wheel or slack of belt.

The Science of 3M™ Precision Shaped Grain

3M™ Precision Shaped Grain is a ceramic mineral that is designed to enhance the toughness and hardness of the grain. The mineral is engineered to form uniform triangular shaped grains that continually fracture into super-sharp points and edges that slice through the substrate, rather than gouging or "plowing" like conventional abrasives. PSG creates a super-fast cut and lessens heat build-up in the workpiece, reducing heat-related stress cracks and discoloration. PSG stays cooler and sharper, which makes it last longer than conventional abrasives.

Increased Performance

723D belts feature premium aluminum oxide blended with 3M PSG for a sharper, longer-lasting abrasive. This not only delivers more consistent performance, but also provides up to 2x longer life than comparable aluminum oxide belts. Longer life means lower cost per finished part and less time lost to belt changeovers, for greater productivity.

Open Coat Construction

Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are spaced slightly apart so that dust and debris have an outlet rather than loading the abrasive. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade. The abrasive is firmly bonded to the backing with resin to maintain durability under high heat and pressure.

Engineered for Reliable Production Performance

3M™ Cubitron™ II Cloth Belt 723D is designed with the flexibility required for finishing complex parts while delivering rapid cut and long-lasting performance. It is an excellent choice when you need a finishing belt that stands up to the demands of production environments. 3M has been a leading abrasive supplier of the metalworking industry for over 100 years, and offers a full line of quality coated and bonded abrasives for all grinding and finishing applications.
