As part of our Perfect-It Paint Finishing System, 3M Trizact Hookit Foam Abrasive Discs are designed to reduce the time and material required for compounding, resulting in significant operating efficiencies during spot and large panel repairs. These Trizact abrasives are specifically engineered to remove fine grade sand scratches while staying sharper for a longer period of time, ultimately reducing material costs. In certain situations, operators can even eliminate the need for additional materials, such as wool compounding pads. This not only saves time but also streamlines the overall grade sequences for more efficient operations. The foam backing of these discs provides excellent control and consistent contact with the surface, making them ideal for preserving the texture of the paint. Trizact Hookit abrasive discs are compatible with Hookit disc pads and soft interface pads, allowing for responsive application and fast, efficient change outs during the paint finishing process.

For removing 1200-1500 grade sand scratches, we recommend using Trizact 3000 grit foam discs. If you need to remove 3000 grade sand scratches on painted surfaces, Trizact 5000 grit foam discs are the ideal choice. These discs can be used in conjunction with 3M Hookit Disc Pad 05551 or 20427 and 3M Hookit Soft Interface Pad 05777 before applying 3M Perfect-It machine polishes and pads.

3M Trizact products feature 3-dimensional structures that are uniformly distributed over the surface of the abrasive, resulting in more predictable finishes and improved, consistent quality. These structures contain multiple layers of abrasive mineral, and as they wear, fresh, sharp mineral is exposed. This unique design allows the abrasive to cut faster, provides precise finish control, and maintains sharpness for a longer period of time. Collision repair operators can even reduce the number of grade sequences required, minimizing process steps and the need for multiple abrasive products.

The Hookit hook-and-loop feature makes disc attachment, removal, and re-attachment clean and easy, enabling the disc to be used and re-used throughout its abrasive life. Hookit disc pads utilize J-shaped hooks, which are commonly used in everyday hook-and-loop applications. These pads securely grip the brushed nylon loop backings of 3M Hookit discs and deliver a finer finish compared to adhesive-backed discs. The Hookit system is particularly beneficial in workspaces where adhesive-backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris.
