PRODUCT FAQ
-
What makes the 3M™ Cubitron™ II Cloth Belt different from other belts in the market?
The 3M™ Cubitron™ II Cloth Belt stands out from others because it is made of high-quality ceramic grains that are harder and tougher than traditional minerals. They stay sharper for longer periods, providing faster cut rates, more consistent finish results and longer belt life.
-
What type of surfaces can I use this belt on?
The 3M™ Cubitron™ II Cloth Belt is versatile and works well on a variety of metals including stainless steel, carbon steel, nickel alloy, cobalt chrome, titanium and many others. It also performs exceptionally well with precision grinding surgical instruments.
-
How long does each belt last before I need to replace it?
The lifespan of a Cubitron II cloth belt depends largely on the application conditions but overall they have significantly extended life compared to competing conventional aluminum oxides or zirconia abrasives. This allows you to get more use out of each one so that you save money by using fewer belts over time while receiving excellent finishing quality.
-
Can I rely on these belts for heavy-duty workloads without slipping or breaking off?
The YF-weight backing provides stiffness required for Heavy duty applications- Allowing operators much reduced down time which would be otherwise lost due to material removal failures like tearing even under extreme pressures.. So yes, you can depend heavily upon our product!
The 3M™ Cubitron II™ Cloth Belt 966F is a high-quality abrasive belt that is designed for moderate pressure applications. The belt features precision shaped grain that ensures a super-fast cut and lessens heat build-up in the workpiece, reducing heat-related stress cracks and discoloration. The water-resistant Z & Y-weight, polyester backing gives excellent strength to the belt that allows for use with liquid-based lubricants, but can be run in a wet or dry application. These attributes make the polyester cloth 966F cloth belt a good match for projects that require an equally durable abrasive belt.
The Science of 3M™ Precision Shaped Grain3M™ Cubitron II™ Cloth Belt 966F's precision shaped grain (PSG) is a major advancement in abrasive technology. PSG is a ceramic mineral designed using a proprietary process to enhance toughness and hardness of the grain. 3M scientists then went one step further and precisely engineered the mineral to form uniform triangular shaped grains that continually fracture into super-sharp points and edges that slice through the substrate, rather than gouging or "plowing" like conventional abrasives. PSG stays cooler and sharper, and lasts longer than conventional abrasives.
Get the Belt You NeedAbrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding tools for many different metalworking applications. 3M offers a broad selection of belts to fit most industrial belt sanders. Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders for flat finishing—to remove and smooth rough cut metal sheets, slabs or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts are generally used on a backstand for weld removal or for removing casting gate.
