PRODUCT FAQ
-
What is 3M Scotchcast Electrical Resin 8N?
3M Scotchcast Electrical Resin 8N is a two-part epoxy formulated for room temperature curing.
-
How can I use this resin product in electrical applications?
This high-strength, low-viscosity electrical resin is suitable for insulating and protecting low- and medium-voltage bus bar connections, cable joints, motor end windings, and transformer coil ends from moisture, chemicals or physical abuse.
-
Does the product come with any certifications or approvals?
Yes. The 3M Scotchcast Electrical Resin 8N meets various international standards like UL746D (File E221774), RoHS compliant as well as being CUREFree™ type-tested according to EN50345.
-
Can you tell me more about storage instructions?
. Of course! Store unopened containers below -18°C to keep its shelf life of one year from production date but after opening it should be stored at room temperature (15-25 C) away from direct sunlight. Additionally, it's best if stirred before application.
3M™ Scotchcast™ Electrical Resin 8N has a low gel point rating to ensure curing at room temperature. The resin exhibits a semi-flexible and good adhesion property after curing, thanks to its high tensile strength. This makes it ideal for applications that require excellent thermal shock and mechanical shock resistance. Additionally, the high dielectric strength of the resin offers excellent electrical insulating properties.
The resin has a high flash point, which helps prevent any fire hazard in electrical components due to quick ignition. Furthermore, it exhibits hydrolytic stability, which minimizes quick chemical decomposition, thus providing long-lasting usage.
The product is MIL I 16923E and MIL I 16923G certified, and RoHS 2011/65/EU compliant.
