It is a two-part flame-retardant epoxy adhesive that can be used for bonding metal, wood, most plastics and masonry products.
-
What size comes in each package?
Each package contains two tubes of adhesive (one resin and one hardener) with a total volume of 48.5 mL or 1.64 fl oz.
-
Is it easy to use?
Yes, it is very easy to mix and apply without running, dripping or sagging during application.
-
Can this product withstand high temperatures?
Yes! This product has excellent temperature resistance up to 220 degrees Fahrenheit which makes it perfect for industrial applications such as automotive assembly lines or aerospace manufacturing plants.
-
. How long does it take for the adhesive to cure completely?
. The curing time will depend on various environmental factors such as temperature, humidity levels etc., but typically this adhesive reaches handling strength within an hour after application and attains full cure strength in around seven days.
When using a Duo-Pak (DP) size adhesive, rely on 3M dispensing equipment for convenient and accurate metering, mixing and dispensing.
Flame Retardant Formula Cures Rigid for High Static Load Holding
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive DP100FR is a non-sag, versatile structural adhesive for general purpose bonding where a UL 94 V-0 certified product is desired. It does not contain brominated or antimony-based flame retardants. This adhesive works on a variety of substrates including metals, ceramics, concrete, and wood. Its high shear strength delivers strong, rigid performance, making it ideal for multiple applications in the electrical, general industrial, construction, and consumer goods industries.
Recommended Applications
- Flame retardant wire tacking
- Applications that require machining afterwards
- Fast bonding where a flame retardant adhesive is required
Fast 6 Minute Work Life with Handling Strength in about 15 Minutes
The mix ratio for 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive DP100FR is 1:1 for quick, precise dispensing. With a 6-minute working time, there is some opportunity for repositioning for precise alignment of parts. The adhesive reaches handling strength in approximately 15 minutes and is fully cured in 48 hours (at 72°F/22°C).
Understanding Epoxy Adhesives
Epoxy adhesives, including 5 minute epoxy, are part of the class of adhesives called "structural adhesives," which include polyurethane, acrylic, cyanoacrylate, and others. Epoxies are formulated as liquid reactive polymers that undergo a chemical reaction when mixed and then cure to form a solid plastic material. Once the two parts are mixed in their specified ratio, they begin the curing process and offer a limited working time where the adhesive can be applied and the two surfaces positioned as needed. This work life lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. These structural adhesives provide high shear and peel strengths, depending on the formula, and better heat and chemical resistance than other common adhesives. In general, epoxy adhesives have the highest overall strength and offer the best performance and most resistance to high temperatures, solvents, and outdoor weathering.
Epoxy adhesive (often referred to as epoxy glue) is widely used in building and home construction; aircraft and automobile manufacturing; bicycle, boat, golf clubs, ski and snowboard assembly as well as a host of home use and other applications. It is used virtually anywhere high-strength bonds are needed along with resistance to environmental conditions. These adhesives are popular for their ease of use, mechanical strength, and chemical resistance. Formulations can be created to make epoxy for plastic flexible or epoxy for metal rigid, epoxy resin transparent or opaque, quick setting or slow setting. The versatility with which these adhesives can be formulated helps meet almost any requirement for bonding wood, metal, glass, stone, and various plastics.
