3M Scotchcast Electrical Resin 9N is a 2 part, liquid resin that is useful for electronic and electrical applications requiring the highest level of protection in the toughest environments. This filled epoxy based resin has a medium viscosity property, which makes it easy to infuse on any surface. It is useful for applications that include filling, patching, insulating and more.

  1. What is 3M's Scotchcast Electrical Resin 9N used for?

    3M Scotchcast Electrical Resin 9N is a two-part epoxy insulating and encapsulating resin that provides excellent electrical and physical protection for cable joints, splices, connections. It can also be used as a general-purpose potting compound.

  2. Can I use this product in outdoor applications?

    Yes! It has excellent outdoor weathering properties and can withstand harsh environments like UV exposure and saltwater spray.

  3. How much of the resin do I need to use with part B hardener?

    The ratio of part A to part B containing the hardener should be strictly followed since it affects the curing time. For each gallon or group size bag of Part A, one unit (1/2-gallon) or bag of Part B must be added.

  4. Does this product meet any industry standards?

    Absolutely! Our Scotchcast Electrical Resin Series meets UL Recognized Component under file E-36952 as specified in their SAM Approval Guide databook. In addition, it passed many MIL specifications (MIL-I-16923E Type III) which includes water absorption tests after prolonged soaking periods which makes it suitable for harsh industrial conditions.
