3M Cloth Band 747D is a versatile abrasive that can be used to access inner and outer contours for grinding, sanding, and shaping on all metals, including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. It conforms to contours to remove parting lines or seams, imperfections, and burrs.

Product Description: 3M™ Cloth Band 747D

For aggressive applications that require a fast continuous cut and long-lasting performance, the 3M™ Cloth Band 747D is the perfect solution. This cloth band is made by bonding a blend of aluminum oxide and 3M™ Ceramic Abrasive Grain to a durable cotton backing using resin. The resin creates a strong bond that can withstand high heat and pressure, while the grinding aid on the band reduces grinding temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys.

The 3M™ Cloth Band 747D is designed to fit onto a rubber wheel attachment, such as a cushion polishing wheel or a rubber slotted expander wheel (both sold separately), for use with a die grinder or rotary drill. The bands come in a range of widths and lengths to suit different contours and tasks, and are often used in foundry work.

The 3M™ Ceramic Abrasive Grain used in this cloth band is a ceramic mineral that is designed using a proprietary process to enhance its toughness and hardness. Ceramic blend products feature aluminum oxide blended with ceramic grain for a harder, longer-lasting abrasive. Ceramic abrasives are engineered to fracture frequently for a super-fast cut and can handle intense heat and stress applications. The ceramic/aluminum oxide blend used in the 3M™ Cloth Band 747D surpasses aluminum oxide abrasives in cut-rate and durability, making it an excellent choice for moderate stock removal and surface preparation.
