3M Random Orbital Buffer 28392 is designed for use in automotive manufacturing (AOEM) paint shop applications for buffing or polishing medium-size defects on clear coat, powder coat, acrylic, solid surface and polyurethane. Getting the Most From the 3M™ Finesse-it™ System

When used in conjunction with 3M™ Finesse-it™ Polishes and Foam Buffing Pads (sold separately), the 3M™ Random Orbital Buffer 28392 provides a uniform, haze-free and professional-looking paint finish. This system can save time and money by repairing defects rather than repainting, and may eliminate the need for a secondary polisher. The 3M™ Random Orbital Buffer 28392 was carefully engineered to optimize the performance of 3M™ Disc Pads and 3M™ Foam Buffing Pads for first-rate results. It is important to note that this buffer should only be used with a foam buffing pad and never a wool pad.

Not exclusive to paint shops, 3M™ Buffers are an excellent choice for a variety of repairs on different substrates across a wide range of industries – from paint and clear coat to lacquered wood, solid surface and acrylic.

Ergonomic Features Provide Maximum Comfort

The tool grip of the 3M™ Random Orbital Buffer 28392 features patented 3M™ Gripping Material to provide a secure hold and enhanced control with less hand pressure, even if polish finds its way onto the grip. Additionally, the gripping material helps reduce vibration for greater comfort. To reduce stress on the wrist and hand, the tool is designed with an extended curved wrist rest, which provides additional leverage as well. The tool also has a built-in muffler and rear exhaust.

The Nitty Gritty

The air-powered Random Orbital Buffer 28392 requires the use of an air compressor and hose (sold separately). The interior threaded spindle is 5/16-24, and recommended RPM is 10,000. It accommodates a 5˝ disc pad and rotates with a 3/8˝ (10mm) orbit.

The Buffer 28392 is designed for two-handed use with or without a removable side handle (PN30334, included with the tool). For best results, the tool should be run flat against the work surface with approximately 4 pounds of force.

The included soft density 3M™ Hookit™ Disc Pad 84226 has a low profile to accommodate a 3M™ Finesse-it™ Foam Buffing Pad and provides a secure hook-and-loop attachment for the pad. Constructed from premium, industrial-quality materials and featuring a riveted fiberglass and steel hub with molded urethane foam, the disc pad's durability and precise construction is the ideal complement to the industrial-level performance of the Buffer 28392. Use the tool only with foam pads, never with wool. Professional results are optimized with the use of 3M™ Finesse-it™ Polish.
