PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What is the purpose of 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Acrylic Adhesive Accelerator A3-1?

The purpose of 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Acrylic Adhesive Accelerator A3-1 is to reduce cure time and increase strength when used with 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Structural Acrylic Adhesives.

  2. Can it be used on metal surfaces?

Yes, it can be used on metal surfaces including aluminum, steel, and stainless steel.

  3. How long does it take for the adhesive to bond after applying the accelerator?

Once applied, bonding occurs immediately. However, full curing typically takes between 24 -48 hours depending on conditions such as temperature and humidity.

  4. Is this a one-part or two-part system?

This product is part A of a two-part system. It must be mixed with Part B (sold separately) in order to create a reactive adhesive that cures quickly and effectively.

  5. Does this come in different sizes or volumes?

Yes! While this particular option comes in a 1-gallon can packaged per case size one/case), we offer various package sizes from tubes all the way up to drums depending on our customers' needs.

Easy Adhesion with Acrylic

Acrylic adhesives are two-part methyl methacrylate adhesives (MMA) that provide excellent bond strength and durability. Although often referred to as epoxy adhesives or epoxy glue, acrylics actually belong to a separate chemical family with their own unique characteristics. Acrylic glues have several features that make them easier to use, including a faster cure speed, higher tolerance for oily or unprepared bonding surfaces, and the ability to bond a wide variety of materials, including nearly all plastics. Newer acrylic adhesive formulations are room temperature stable with a long shelf life.
