3M 8096 Series Cold Shrink Resin Mine and Portable Cable Splice Kit with flame retardant compound 2131 is designed for splicing SHD GC, MPF GC and MPF non shielded cables that are 5 to 15 kV rated. It provides splicing on draglines, power shovels, drills, type MPF underground power feeder cables and select trailing cables.

    The installation time depends on several factors such as cable type, voltage level, size of cables being joined and environmental conditions. However, generally speaking, an experienced electrician can install this splice in roughly one hour.

  3. Are there any special storage requirements for these kits before they can be used?

    Yes. Store these kits indoors at temperatures between +10°C to +30°C (+50°F to +86°F). Ensure that packaging remains intact until ready for use.

  4. Can I purchase just one component of the Kit without having to buy everything else that comes with it?

    We do not recommend piecing together individual components from different systems or buying exact components separately because doing so could affect product performance or cause safety hazards when installing the splices.
