A good starting point for many different light-duty applications, the Standard Abrasives Buff and Blend Hook and Loop GP Disc is a versatile non-woven abrasive disc designed to lightly blend, clean, deburr and finish a variety of metals. The hook and loop style backing attaches to a hook and loop holder pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander.

Moderately Aggressive for Lighter-Weight Applications

The Standard Abrasives Buff and Blend Hook and Loop GP Disc is a versatile and multi-purpose product designed for general-duty industrial applications. It is the least aggressive among the four Standard Abrasives Buff and Blend materials, making it ideal for lighter-weight applications. This disc can be used for various tasks such as removing light oxidation, blending minor surface imperfections, cleaning surfaces before coatings, removing small burrs, and performing basic equipment cleanup.

The Buff and Blend GP disc is suitable for use on a wide range of substrates including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, aluminum, high nickel/chrome alloys, and stainless steel. Its non-woven construction gives it a spongy and responsive nature, allowing it to conform to workpiece contours or irregularities.

For higher-pressure applications that require additional toughness, it is recommended to use a Standard Abrasives Buff and Blend HP or HS Disc.

Using a Hook and Loop GP Disc

The Hook and Loop GP Disc is designed to be mounted on a hook and loop style holder pad that has the same diameter as the disc. This holder pad, which is available separately, allows for convenient attachment to a random orbital sander. For use with other tools, Buff and Blend discs are also available with quick change and center hole attachments.

The Many Benefits of Standard Abrasives Non-Woven Products

Standard Abrasives Buff and Blend non-woven products offer numerous benefits. Each Buff and Blend material has its own unique characteristics, but all of them have an open web construction. This construction combines abrasive mineral and non-woven nylon fibers with a resin-reinforced bond, resulting in a strong and durable abrasive.

The gaps between the fibers allow swarf (debris) to escape, preventing the abrasive from getting clogged. This prolongs the service life of the abrasive and keeps the minerals cutting sharper for a longer period. Unlike steel wool, the nylon fibers of Buff and Blend products won't splinter during grinding. Additionally, as the fibers break down and expose fresh mineral, the likelihood of the disc smearing the surface is reduced. This ensures that Standard Abrasives Buff and Blend products consistently deliver a precise cut and finish, part after part.
