The Standard Abrasives Buff and Blend GP Disc is a versatile and reliable product designed for general-duty industrial applications. This particular disc, made from maroon GP material, offers a moderately aggressive approach. It is perfect for tasks such as removing light oxidation, blending minor surface imperfections, preparing surfaces for coatings, eliminating small burrs, and performing basic equipment cleanup. The disc's flexible open web allows it to conform to the contours, radii, and internal diameters of the workpiece. Its non-woven construction gives it a spongy and responsive quality. For larger workpieces, multiple discs can be ganged on a shaft to form a wheel. In situations that require a tougher disc for higher-pressure applications, the Standard Abrasives Buff and Blend HP or HS Disc is recommended. This design combines abrasive mineral and non-woven nylon fibers with a resin-reinforced bond. The resin bond securely anchors the mineral to the fibers, resulting in a strong and durable abrasive.

The gaps between the fibers allow swarf (debris) to escape, preventing the abrasive from getting clogged. This minimizes swarf and debris, extending the service life of the abrasive and keeping the minerals sharp for longer. Unlike steel wool, the nylon fibers do not splinter during grinding, providing a safer alternative. As the fibers break down, fresh mineral is exposed, reducing the likelihood of the disc smearing the surface.
