Medium to Hard Density Wheel Provides Aggressive Burr Removal and Cleans to a Fine Finish

The Standard Abrasives Aluminum Oxide (A/O) 700 Series Unitized Wheel is a versatile abrasive tool with a medium to hard density. Compared to other wheels in the Standard Abrasives Unitized Wheels line, the A/O 700 Series offers a combination of durability and fine cutting action. This makes it ideal for a wide range of applications that require both aggressive burr removal and a fine finish.

When it comes to deburring gears and turbine blades, the A/O 700 Series Unitized Wheel is highly effective. It can also remove punched hole burrs on stainless steel, 80 grit grind lines on nickel alloys, and 120 grit grind lines on aluminum. Additionally, it can handle heavy flashing, medium-sized pits and scratches, and is useful for edge radiusing on harder metals. In terms of cleaning, the Standard Abrasives 700 Series Unitized Wheel is reliable for removing heavy scale, light oxidation from aluminum, brazing on steel tubing, weld discoloration, and handling marks prior to coating or plating.

The A/O 700 Series Unitized Wheel is compatible with a variety of tools. It is typically used on a die grinder, but can also be mounted on a tool or pedestal grinder without regard to the direction of the spindle rotation. This flexibility allows operators to use the wheel with different tools and feed the workpiece through the machine in any direction. The unitized construction of the wheel enables operators to access awkward angles with thinner wheels, making it easier to grind in tight spaces.

The Series 700 wheels are available in diameters ranging from 1 to 6 inches. They require a unitized wheel mandrel for attachment to the tool, which is sold separately. Quick change wheels are also available for added convenience.

The Standard Abrasives Unitized Wheels are constructed using a non-woven unitized construction. This construction offers a higher density and durability compared to other abrasive products, making it suitable for stubborn surfaces. The wheels are designed to handle tough deburring, cleaning, blending, and finishing applications. They come in a variety of densities and grades to suit different metals, aggressiveness requirements, part shapes, and desired finishes.

The unitized wheels are created by layering open web material that combines non-woven fiber strands and abrasive mineral with a tough resin bond. These layers are then cured and compressed together, resulting in a wheel with increased toughness and durability. The non-woven nylon fibers of the wheel allow it to respond to surface irregularities while maintaining the geometry of the piece, ensuring a consistent finish.

One of the key advantages of the Standard Abrasives Unitized Wheels is their load-resistant construction. The open web structure of the wheel allows unwanted swarf to escape, preventing debris from clogging the abrasive. This ensures that the mineral stays fresh, sharp, and delivers a consistent cut throughout the life of the product. As the fibers break down and fresh mineral is exposed, the likelihood of dull or blunt mineral smearing the surface is reduced, resulting in cleaner surfaces and less re-work. Additionally, the load-resistant construction reduces manual fatigue that may occur from applying heavy pressure to a dull abrasive.

Overall, the Standard Abrasives Unitized Wheels offer numerous benefits for heavy-duty jobs. They help operators reduce finishing steps, minimize costs, and achieve greater throughput in deburring, cleaning, blending, and finishing applications.
