PRODUCT FAQ
-
What makes the 3M™ Cloth Belt 370DZ different from other cloth belts?
The 3M™ Cloth Belt 370DZ features a Film-lok backing, which securely holds abrasive grains in place while providing flexibility and excellent resistance to heat. This product is also designed with a Y-weight cotton-polyester blend that provides an optimal combination of durability and wearability.
-
What applications is the 3M™ Cloth Belt 370DZ best suited for?
This particular belt excels at sanding wood, metals, composites, plastics and many other materials commonly found in woodworking shops or metal fabrication facilities.
-
Does the purchase of this package mean that I'm getting three identical belts?
Yes! When you buy our pack containing "3 ea/Case," you'll receive three units of this same belt size (80-grit), length (36 inches) and width (75 inches).
3M™ Cloth Belt 370DZ is a high-performance abrasive belt that provides continuous cut and long-life performance, even under high heat and pressure. The belt is made with fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grains that are resin-bonded to a heavyweight cloth backing.
The open coat construction and anti-static treatment of the belt resist premature loading and maintain effective cut. Reduced static on the belt optimizes dust collection when used with an efficient dust collection system. The belt is also manufactured with a washable backing for high production environments where washing may be required at intervals to remove pitch buildup from soft woods such as pine.
If washing the belt, the product should be taken off the machine and washed offline. The product should be hung on a rack and allowed to thoroughly dry before using it again.
Aluminum oxide mineral is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its cut-rate, durability, and long life. It can be used on a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys, and is the most commonly used industrial abrasive. The abrasive particles are adhered to the cloth backing with resin, creating a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure.
Abrasive belts come in many different widths and lengths and are used on a variety of different belt sanding machines for many different applications on both wood and metal. 3M offers a broad selection of belts to fit most any industrial belt sander.
Wider belts are used with wide belt sanders to dimension or finish wood panels, smooth rough cut edges of metal sheets, or add a grain pattern to stainless steel sheets. Medium-width belts fit onto edge sanders for sanding flat, narrow surfaces such as panel edges; and narrow belts are used with portable belt sanders for sanding or leveling joint areas of wood pieces.
Belts come with various splices that join the belt ends. A film media splice achieves a secure bond with a joining film that minimizes chatter marks, ensures a smooth running belt, and produces consistent finishing results. A sine wave splice is constructed of interlocking fingers that enable the splice to travel smoothly over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and provide added strength to the joint area. Sine wave splices are typically used for coarser grades and wide belts as well as on belts that are going to be washed.
