Made of non-woven material with added stiffness, the Standard Abrasives Buff and Blend HP Disc produces an aggressive cut and is designed for applications such as removal of burrs or tough contaminants.

Added Stiffness for Lightweight Deburring and other Moderate Applications

The Standard Abrasives Buff and Blend HP Disc is designed to efficiently perform light deburring and aggressive cleaning on a variety of metal substrates. This includes ferrous and non-ferrous metals, aluminum, high nickel, and stainless steel. The disc features a tough nylon web that offers sustained performance and leaves a consistent finish on the workpiece, resulting in minimal rework. The very fine (VFN) grade abrasive contributes to a clean and smooth finish. The disc is made with aluminum oxide mineral, which cuts sharp and is friable, meaning it fragments under heat and pressure to reveal sharp cutting edges during use. Among the four Standard Abrasives Buff and Blend materials, the HP material is moderately stiff, durable, and aggressive, making it an excellent choice for deburring applications. Its non-woven construction allows it to respond to contours and extrusions while minimizing gouging or marring of the part. Additionally, the discs can be ganged on a shaft to form a wheel if desired.

Durable Disc Accommodates Edges and Extrusions

The HP Disc is a reliable option when you need to remove part lines from small castings, small burrs from threaded pipes, burrs from aluminum extrusions or die cast flashing, or heavy surface oxidation. Its durability ensures a long service life, reducing the need for frequent replacements. The sturdy material of the disc can withstand edges and extrusions, minimizing edge fraying and grain shedding. For heavier-duty applications such as edge deburring, you may consider upgrading to one of our Standard Abrasives Buff and Blend High Strength (HS) Discs. Quick Change discs are also available separately.

The Many Benefits of Standard Abrasives Non-Woven Products

Standard Abrasives Buff and Blend non-woven products offer numerous advantages. Each Buff and Blend product is made with varying materials, distinguishing them from one another. However, all Buff and Blend products have an open web construction. This construction combines abrasive mineral and non-woven nylon fibers with a resin-reinforced bond. The resin bond securely anchors the mineral to the fibers, creating a strong and durable abrasive.

The gaps between the fibers allow swarf to escape, preventing the abrasive from getting clogged with debris. This minimizes swarf and debris, prolonging the service life of the abrasive and keeping the minerals cutting sharper for a longer time. Unlike steel wool, the nylon fibers of our products won't splinter during grinding, providing a safer alternative. Additionally, as the fibers break down and fresh mineral is exposed, it reduces the likelihood of dull or blunt mineral. Standard Abrasives Buff and Blend products consistently deliver a precise cut and finish, ensuring high-quality results with every use.
