Disc pads or holder pads serve as conduits between abrasive discs and tools; they are valuable connectors that make industrial processes easier and faster. Standard Abrasives Quick Change Holder Pads come with one of three quick change attachment styles. Attachment styles include TS, TR, and TP. TS is a standard metal-to-metal attachment, TR is a 3M Roloc style nylon threaded male hub, and TP is a snap-on/snap-off nylon fastening hub. The mechanical attachments on the discs and pads enable easy swapping out of discs with a speedy quarter turn.
Choosing a MandrelStandard Abrasives Quick Change Holder Pads are available with or without built-in mandrels. Some TS and TR holder pads come with an attached 1/4 diameter TA4 mandrel. Others come with an attached TA6 mandrel with a 6 mm diameter. TP disc holders come with TA4 mandrel attachments only. Disc holders are also available without mandrel attachments, allowing users to select a mandrel of a different length if it is better suited to their project needs. Holders without an attached mandrel have a 1/4-20 female thread that will pair with a 1/4-20 mandrel. Once the mandrel is attached, users can fasten the disc pad to a rotary tool or die grinder.
Smooth RunningAll holder pads are hard-face pads, meaning they are flat and even without texture. The smooth face of the holder pad prevents it from causing bumps or extrusions on the abrasive disc.
Different densities indicate varying levels of flexibility of the holder pad. Soft density holder pads are more pliable and responsive, making them a good fit for finer grade abrasives used for finishing and contouring. Medium-grade pads are suitable for discs that perform general-purpose work. Firm density holder pads are more rigid to support coarser abrasives used for heavy stock removal. Discs and holder pads work together to get the job done.
Overall, Standard Abrasives Holder Pads allow for quick and easy disc attachment and removal, enhancing productivity and adding an extra level of efficiency and ease to your industrial applications.
