    The Standard Abrasives™ Surface Conditioning RC Disc is made of non-woven nylon fibers, coated with aluminum oxide grain, and held together by a resin bond.

  2. What is the grade of abrasiveness for this disc?

    It comes in three grades – coarse (CR), medium (MED) and fine (FIN). The 845615 that you mentioned has a medium grade abrasive.

  3. How long does one disc usually last?

    This depends on various factors such as application, pressure applied etc. However, these discs typically have a long life and offer consistent finishes throughout your project.

  4. Can I buy just one or two discs instead of an entire case?

    Of course! While these products come in bulk quantities to make them more economical for big projects or frequent use, we understand that not every customer will need cases all at once. You can purchase any quantity directly from our website or through your preferred distributor.

Tough Woven Fabric

Standard Abrasives™ Surface Conditioning Discs are designed with a more compact structure of non-woven fibers than Buff & Blend products. The RC disk has a woven fabric (scrim) embedded in the nylon structure to provide additional strength and durability. This helps extend the life of the disk and allows for extended use on ferrous materials where final finishing is important. This material is great for general use, delivering a solid mix of durability, flexibility, and cut rate.

Mixed Materials

Standard Abrasives™ Surface Conditioning RC Discs are made of a tough, yet flexible nylon mesh that fits any contoured surface. This mesh is also laced with aluminum oxide abrasive. Aluminum oxide discs are a good match for operators who desire an all-purpose versatility and economy. The mineral cuts fast while blending and deburring and should be used for applications on ferrous metals and composites. Aluminum oxide discs feature a premium grain with higher fracture strength, meaning the mineral will fragment and renew more readily. They are available in grades ranging from Very Fine to Coarse.

Strong Backing for Better Performance

For the best results, it is recommended that a Standard Abrasives brand holder pad is used. Tests have shown that surface conditioning disks, when used in conjunction with the Standard Abrasives holder pad, have a greater durability and performance rate. These pads also assure that pressure is applied evenly all the way to the edge of the disk.
