The Scotch-Brite Cut and Polish Bonded Cleaning Brush features a tough, dense web that allows aggressive blending, cleaning and deburring of metals. The web is wrapped around a steel support core, so the brush stays sturdy when run on finishing equipment. This creates a firm support for the softer mesh material that removes surface contaminants without damaging the work piece.

  • Tight and dense construction allows for aggressive blending, cleaning, and polishing on metal surfaces
  • Open web design resists loading and assures consistent action across the sheet
  • Resin bonded to a steel core for maximum strength and durability
  • Extremely durable material provides a long lifespan for the brush
  • Made with aluminum oxide mineral for sharp cutting action

PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What makes the Scotch-Brite Cut and Polish Bonded Cleaning Brush different from other cleaning brushes?

The Scotch-Brite Cut and Polish Bonded Cleaning Brush features a 3M proprietary cutting formulation that cuts through stubborn surface contaminants without causing damage to the substrate. Additionally, it has a combination of fiber density and aggressive mineral construction which enables operators to achieve effective cleaning results in less time.

  2. Can I use this brush on delicate surfaces such as glass or metal?

Yes you can! In fact, the Scotch-Brite Cut and Polish Bonded Cleaning Brush is specifically designed for use on sensitive substrates such as aluminum, stainless steel, copper alloys etc.

  3. How long does this brush last before requiring replacement?

The lifespan of the brush depends largely on its usage frequency and application type. However, with proper care (cleaning after each use), it should last quite some time.

  4. Is it easy to clean / maintain this brush?

Definitely! Because of its open web construction design, debris doesn’t clog in the fibers hence making maintenance an effortless task. Ready-to-use right out of package – wetting prior to use isn't required either.

Tough and Flexible

The Scotch-Brite™ Cut and Polish Bonded Cleaning Brush is the perfect choice for aggressive blending and finishing. This cleaning brush is made by stacking a series of circular non-woven discs onto a steel core to make a wide and round brush used for cleaning and finishing applications on wide sheet and coil metal. The core provides durability and long life, while the softer, abrasive infused mesh cuts quickly and evenly. Our cleaning brushes are typically used for coil cleaning prior to coating, deburring, scale and oxide removal, and reclaiming sheet and coil.

Aluminum Oxide Abrasive

This tan bonded cleaning brush uses aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its cut-rate and long life. This mineral is a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges in use, whereas traditional abrasives, such as garnet, quickly wear down with use. Due to its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing use. Aluminum oxide is suitable on a wide variety of substrates in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.

The Scotch-Brite™ Advantage

Scotch-Brite™ abrasives are unique surface conditioning products with abrasives incorporated into non-woven fiber matrix. Combining abrasives and non-woven material creates an abrasive system that delivers consistent results for the life of the product. The open-web material runs cool and is load resistant, which keeps the abrasive minerals cutting at high performance by limiting clogging of the fibers. Using a lubricant or coolant is recommended when cleaning. It assists in washing away swarf and reduces loading, which helps extend the brush's service life.

Note:

When ordering a bonded construction cleaning brush, please allow an additional 1-1/4" to provide clearance for the 5/8" lock collars located at both ends of the brush. For instance, if you require 40" of usable brush width, order a 40" wide brush. This brush, however, when measured at the core will actually be 41-1/4" including the lock collars.
