PRODUCT FAQ
-
What is the Scotch-Brite™ Cut and Polish Flap Brush used for?
The Scotch-Brite™ Cut and Polish Flap Brush, 8 in x 2 in x 3 in 5A VFN, 2 ea/Case is a versatile brush that can be used on a variety of surfaces to remove rust, corrosion, surface defects, and light paint.
-
Can this flap brush be used with a drill or should it only be used with certain machines?
Yes! This flap brush can definitely be used with drills but we always recommend checking your machine's manual to ensure compatibility/safety before use.
-
How long does this type of flap brush last before needing replacement?
The lifespan of any abrasive product varies based on usage conditions (pressure applied to the tool for example), but generally speaking our Scotch-Brite cut & polish flap brushes are designed for maximum longevity so we'd expect an extended life from them relative to competitor products.
-
What materials work best when using this type of flap brush compared to other tools?
We typically recommend these brushes for use on metal including stainless steel surfaces. That said they are very effective at blending seams between welds etc., removing concrete splatter.. really depends mainly on user preference / experience.
-
Do you have any tips/tricks about how to clean the brushes after usage?
I'm glad you asked! A common practice we promote among professionals is brushing one wide edge or part of the bristle block against another hard object - say an old piece of iron or thick wall covering as just two examples depending what might be handy at job site. Doing this allows debris/dust/etc caught inside flaps during operation fly off quickly due force generated by "smooching" side(s) together under pressure once again outside/away from bristles where it can harmlessly collect easier rather than mucking about under the bristles, subsequently shortening tool life.
Scotch-Brite™ Cut and Polish Flap Brushes use proprietary 3M non-woven materials technology. The open web construction can help limit downtime and increase productivity by reducing loading and maintaining effective cutting action longer – resulting in less frequent replacement than conventional brushes.
Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives are unique due to their nonwoven technology. The combination of fiber strands, resin, and abrasive mineral forms a thick, open web. The spring-like nature of the fibers responds to contours and effectively removes unwanted burrs, soils, and contaminants while maintaining the geometry of the workpiece. This reduces rework and boosts productivity. Gaps in the web allow swarf to escape, so debris does not clog the mineral. Fibers in the web continually break down with use to reveal fresh mineral for exceptional consistency, superior cut performance, and extremely long service life.
Scotch-Brite™ products not only enhance productivity, but also increase operator safety by reducing the need for cleaning chemicals and pastes, and replacing wire brushes that can break off and cause injury. From aesthetic finishing to weld blending, deburring, and more, Scotch-Brite abrasives work fast and deliver consistent results, part after part.
