-
Can I reuse the 3M's Hookit system with these sanding disks?
Yes! The Hookit backing pad enables quick and easy attachment and removal. You can use it to quickly switch between grades or reuse disks multiple times as they wear.
-
What grit size do the 36-grade disks fall under?
The "grade" number refers to an industry standard that measures the roughness/abrasiveness levelof sandpaper or abrasive products like our green corps hook-and-loop disc. These green-colored discs are classified as coarse abrasives since they have a grade value/ratingof only '36'.
Built to withstand the most demanding auto body sanding jobs, the 3M™ Green Corps™ Hookit™ Abrasive Disc 255U is designed with heat-resistant resin bonding. The Hookit™ attachment system allows operators to quickly change out discs during multi-step sanding processes.
Superior Dust ResistanceThe open coat construction of the abrasive grains in the 3M™ Green Corps™ Hookit™ Abrasive Disc 255U allows dust and debris to collect in the spaces between the grains, preventing the disc from loading. This feature also provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, resulting in faster results. Some versions of this disc feature a 7- or 8-hole pattern that helps evacuate dust from the work surface, significantly increasing disc life and maximizing cut-rate.
Blended Grain for Better CutThe 3M™ Ceramic Abrasive Grain is a ceramic mineral designed using a 3M process to enhance the toughness and hardness of the grain. The 3M™ Green Corps™ Hookit™ 255U abrasive discs feature aluminum oxide blended with 3M™ Ceramic Abrasive Grain for increased performance, making it one of the most durable and long-lasting abrasives available. Ceramic abrasives are engineered to cut fast and handle intense heat and stress, making them perfect for moderate to heavy stock removal, sanding, and finishing applications. The ceramic aluminum oxide blend surpasses aluminum oxide abrasives in cut-rate and durability, making this product an excellent choice for sanding metal, plastic, and fiberglass substrates, as well as finishing applications.
About the Hookit™ Attachment System3M™ Hookit™ discs are ideal for workspaces where adhesive-backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris. They are often used in applications where a 3M™ Stikit™ disc may be too aggressive, as Hookit™ discs tend to leave finer finishes than adhesive-backed discs. Hookit™ sanding discs conveniently and firmly attach to a hook-and-loop backup disc pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander, can be removed cleanly and easily, and be used again and again for the extent of the abrasive life.
Durable Through and ThroughThe Green Corps™ Hookit™ Abrasive Disc 255U is built to last, from the grain to the backing to the bonding to the disc pad attachment. This makes it perfect for tough auto body sanding projects. Top-quality sanding using fewer discs is just another way that auto body professionals can get the most from their operations.
