PRODUCT FAQ
-
What is the 3M™ Stikit™ Film Disc Roll?
The 3M™ Stikit™ Film Disc Roll is a type of sandpaper made by 3M that has an adhesive backing for easy attachment and removal from your sanding tool.
-
What grit is P1000 on the scale?
P1000 refers to the level of abrasiveness, also known as grit. In this case, it means that each particle of abrasive material in this roll will measure approximately 1000 microns across. This specification makes it perfect for finishing applications on automotive paints.
-
How many discs come in one roll & how many rolls are there per case?
Each roll contains 125 discs and there are four rolls per case totaling to about 500 individual discs.
-
What size is the disc and can I get different sizes or assortments within one pack/case?
The diameter of these discs measures at around five inches with no-hole interface (NH). Unfortunately, we do not currently offer any assortment or variety packs for this product.
3M™ Stikit™ Film Disc Roll 360L is a durable and reliable sandpaper disc that is perfect for high-production environments. The sturdy film backing provides excellent resistance to edge tearing, making it last longer than discs with standard A-weight paper backings. The film backing also provides a consistent finish, making it ideal for spot repairs, sanding plastic parts, paint feathering on defects, or sanding automotive primer.
To reduce loading on the disc, the disc has open coat construction without a load-resistant stearate coating. The Stikit adhesive on the backing conveniently attaches the disc to a low-profile 3M™ Stikit™ Disc Pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander. The 360L comes in a range of grades for various applications from fine sanding to finishing.
Sandpaper discs cut better and last longer when dust isn't loading the cutting surface of the abrasives. An open coat means the abrasive grains have space between them so that sanding debris collects in the spaces rather than loading the cutting edge of the grains. This feature has the added advantage of producing a more aggressive cut.
The 360L features an aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
The 3M™ Stikit™ system eliminates the time-consuming task of applying adhesive to the disc backing. These high-quality, coated abrasive products come ready to use with a pressure sensitive adhesive coating on the backside so that attaching them to the disc pad is as simple as pressing on a sticker. And because the adhesive is pressure sensitive, the disc can be peeled off of the disc pad just as easily, leaving a clean surface for the next disc. A Stikit disc must be pressed onto a Stikit backup pad (also called a disc pad and sold separately) that is attached to a disc sander, random orbital sander, or stationary disc sander.
