PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What material is the 3M Standard Abrasives™ LDW Wheel made of?

The LDW wheel is made with a ceramic grain abrasive, which offers superior performance and durability compared to other materials.

  2. Is this compatible with my specific machine?

This wheel has a maximum operating speed of 1810 RPM and it can be used on most right angle grinders. It’s important to ensure that your tool matches the specifications for this specific product.

  3. Will the finish produced by this wheel require additional polishing or finishing steps?

Absolutely not! This particular model creates an extremely fine finish that does not require any additional polishing or finishing steps. You’ll save time while still achieving exceptional results.

  4. How long will one disc last before needing to replace it?

. That really depends on various factors related to your unique application, such as pressure applied during use, stock removal needs, etc. However, these discs have been proven to last longer than similar products in numerous tests conducted in-house at 3M facilities.

  5. Do you offer different sizes or grits of abrasives in this line?

. Yes! We offer several different sizes and configurations within our Standard Abrasives™ LDW Wheel line so that you can choose exactly what fits best for your project-specific needs- whether it's larger wheels for bulkier jobs or finer grit options for more delicate tasks like deburring metal edges and rounding off corners effectively without losing accuracy!

Choosing High vs. Low Densities

The Standard Abrasives™ Light Deburring Wheel is made with a fine grade silicon carbide mineral. These wheels come in different densities, ranging from 6 to 8. Higher density wheels are more durable and have a longer service life. On the other hand, lower density wheels are softer and more flexible, allowing them to conform to the substrate. Light deburring wheels are less aggressive and provide a finer finish compared to other convolute wheels.

Smear-Resistant for A Brighter Finish

The Light Deburring Wheel is a convolute wheel that must be run in one direction as indicated by the arrow on the side of the wheel. The wheel's core is wound with an abrasive web made of resin and silicon carbide mineral. The silicon carbide mineral is bonded with a smear-resistant resin that prevents smudging or staining on the substrate. These features contribute to a cleaner and brighter finish on the workpiece. The Light Deburring Wheel is an excellent tool for light blending, polishing, and deburring applications, providing a fine finish on the workpiece.
