Sharp Minerals for a Fine Finish

The 3M™ Glass Seaming Cloth Belt 461F is designed to provide a superior finish using silicon carbide, a synthetic mineral that is very sharp and commonly used for low to medium-pressure applications such as finishing stainless steel and glass. Silicon carbide is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and excellent finish. Although it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a superior finish, making it best suited for sanding and finishing applications on softer surfaces like wood, composite glass, and stainless steel.

Tough, Flexible and Water Resistant

The 461F belt is backed with a Y-weight cloth that supports both wet and dry applications. Cloth-backed belts are known for their combination of durability and flexibility, making them a good first choice for jobs that require both fine sanding and heavy stock removal. However, many such applications produce a significant amount of dust, which clogs the abrasive points and creates an inferior work environment. These effects can be minimized by sanding with water or a coolant to rinse dust away from the workpiece and the abrasive surface.
