A good starting point for many different light-duty applications, the Standard Abrasives Buff and Blend Hook and Loop GP Disc is a versatile non-woven abrasive disc designed to lightly blend, clean, deburr and finish a variety of metals. The hook and loop style backing attaches to a hook and loop holder pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander.

    The Standard Abrasives™ Buff and Blend Hook and Loop GP Disc, 831002, 11 in A VFN is made from non-woven nylon fibers impregnated with abrasive grain.

  2. Is the disc compatible with any sanding or polishing machine?

    Yes! This specific hook-and-loop disc fits onto a wide range of power tool brands such as Dynabrade, Porter-Cable, DeWalt and more.

  3. Can I use this disc for both blending & finishing applications at once? 

    Absolutely. The overlapping fibres play two roles - to remove scratches as well as add finish on inherently soft metals like brass or aluminum.

  4. What if I only need one of these discs instead of a case?

    No problem! We have other variants ranging from packs containing just 1 disc to larger cases containing up to several dozen discs per case. Please reach out your seller or distributor for further information on each variant we offer!

Moderately Aggressive for Lighter-Weight Applications

The Standard Abrasives™ Buff and Blend Hook and Loop GP Disc is a versatile and multi-purpose product that is great for general-duty industrial applications. It is the least aggressive among the four Standard Abrasives™ Buff and Blend materials, making it suitable for light-weight applications. This product can be used to remove light oxidation, blend minor surface imperfections, clean surfaces prior to coatings, remove small burrs, and perform basic equipment cleanup.

The Buff and Blend GP products work well on a variety of substrates, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, aluminum, high nickel/chrome alloys, and stainless steel. The non-woven construction of this disc makes it spongy and responsive, allowing it to conform to workpiece contours or irregularities.

For higher-pressure applications, it is recommended to use a Standard Abrasives™ Buff and Blend HP or HS Disc.

Using a Hook and Loop GP Disc

Hook and loop discs can be mounted to a hook and loop style holder pad that is the same diameter as the disc. The holder pad (available separately) provides convenient attachment to a random orbital sander. Buff and Blend discs are also available with quick change and center hole attachments for use with other tools.

Standard Abrasives™ Buff and Blend non-woven products offer many benefits. All Buff and Blend products have an open web, which combines abrasive mineral and non-woven nylon fibers with a resin-reinforced bond. The resin bond securely anchors mineral to the fibers, making for a strong, durable abrasive.

Gaps between fibers allow swarf to escape, so the abrasive does not get clogged with debris. Minimizing swarf and debris prolongs abrasive service life and keeps minerals cutting sharper for longer. Nylon fibers won't splinter during grinding, offering a good alternative to steel wool. Moreover, as the fibers break down and fresh mineral is exposed, it reduces the likelihood of the disc smearing the surface. Standard Abrasives™ Buff and Blend products deliver a consistent cut and finish – part after part.
