PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What kind of applications is the 3M™ High Temperature Nylon Film Tape suitable for?

The 3M™ High Temperature Nylon Film Tape 8555, White, is designed to perform in high-temperature environments. It is ideal for masking and protecting surfaces that are subject to damage from high temperature processes like powder coating and anodizing.

  2. Is this tape easy to apply and remove?

Absolutely! The nylon film backing provides conformability, ensuring a good fit over irregular surfaces. And thanks to its low adhesion silicone adhesive system, it sticks easily but removes cleanly without leaving any residue behind.

  3. How much tape do I get with each order?

Each case includes 36 rolls of white 1 inch x 72 yard tape – that's a total of almost half a mile (2592 yards)!

  4. Can this product withstand harsh conditions or exposure to chemicals?

Yes, it can! This tape has excellent resistance against many solvents and chemicals like acetone and xylene. Plus, you can count on its thermal stability; it performs well in temperatures up to 400°F/204°C continuous or intermittent exposures up to approximately +500º F (+260º C).

High Temperature Performance with Clean Removal

3M™ High Temperature Nylon Tape 8555 is engineered to withstand high temperatures and is a thicker version of 3M™ High Temperature Nylon Tape 855. This film tape is 6.0 mil thick and can maintain its excellent performance even in high temperature bake cycles up to 400°F/204°C. Unlike other tapes, this tape does not use a silicone adhesive, which eliminates the silicone residue that often interferes with cleaning operations and anchorage of certain adhesives and paints. This makes it ideal for parts where subsequent painting or bonding is necessary. The tape is constructed with a nylon backing at a full 5.0 mils for toughness and high elongation. The backing also removes quickly for easy application.

Recommended Applications
  • Where thicker caliper nylon tape is required
  • Advanced composite and metal bond masking
  • Composite bagging operations
  • Helps remove flashing after composite bonding
