PRODUCT FAQ

  1. What is the 3M™ Scotchcast™ Electrical Insulating and Sealing Compound 2104B?

The 3M™ Scotchcast™ Electrical Insulating and Sealing Compound 2104B is a two-part epoxy designed for sealing, electrical insulation, and void filling.

  2. How does it work?

When the two parts are combined, the compound turns into a thixotropic material that can be applied to a variety of surfaces. It hardens after curing to provide excellent protection against moisture, chemicals, and other environmental factors.

  3. Is it easy to use?

Yes! Applying the compound is very simple – just mix equal amounts of both components until they're thoroughly blended together. The compound will remain fluid enough for pouring or using as an adhesive for about an hour before setting up.

  4. Where can I use this product?

You can use this sealant anywhere you need secure electrical connections that aren't prone to failure due to exposure or movement. It's ideal for terminations on motor leads going through conduit systems as well as underground applications where moisture is present.

  5. Can I order smaller quantities than by case/pack if needed?

Yes! We offer flexible ordering options so customers can get just what they need. Please speak with one of our representatives about any specific requests you may have so we make sure your needs met properly based on your requirements.

3M™ Scotchcast™ Electrical Insulating and Sealing Compound 2104 is a versatile product that is perfect for electrical applications that require excellent handling and performance characteristics. This compound has a low gel point rating, which ensures that it cures at room temperature. The high tensile strength of the resin gives it a semi-flexible property and good adhesion after curing.

The compound has a high dielectric strength, which makes it an excellent electrical insulator. It is ideal for insulating conductors of multi-core splices that operate at 1 kV or less. The product is used in 72 N, 85 Series kits and is ASTM approved and RoHS 2011/65/EU compliant.
