The Standard Abrasives Rubber Sanding Drum holds an abrasive band for contour work (band sold separately). Constructed from rubber, the drum expands at high speed for the closest possible fit with a band of the same size for controlled operation. This enables it to run smoothly over contoured surfaces and into hard-to-reach areas without skipping or jumping for a smooth, precise finish.
- Rubber drum enables controlled expansion of a spiral band for proper balance and smooth running at high speeds (band sold separately)
- Non-slip drum surface securely holds spiral band
- Enables polishing, finishing and blending on contours when smooth running is essential
- Pairs with coated abrasive bands or non-woven surface conditioning bands
- Use same diameter drum and band
- Range of sizes helps ensure an ideal match between drum size and part for optimal results

PRODUCT FAQ
-
What is the size of the Standard Abrasives™ Rubber Sanding Drum 704780, and how many come in a case?
The sanding drum measures 1 inch by 2 inches with a quarter-inch shaft, and each case contains ten units for your sanding needs.
-
Is the abrasive on this product high-quality and durable?
Absolutely! Our Standard Abrasives™ products are crafted to be long-lasting while providing superior surface finishes. You can expect plenty of use from our Rubber Sanding Drum before needing to replace it.
-
Can I use this sanding drum on curved or contoured surfaces?
Yes! This drum has an outstanding capability for conformability, allowing you to shape it around even complex shapes without losing its effectiveness. Get ready for precision results with ease on any surface.
When it comes to achieving balanced handling and an abrasive belt won't fit the part, the Standard Abrasives™ Rubber Sanding Drum is the perfect solution. This drum can be fitted with a Standard Abrasives™ Spiral Band (sold separately) which can be a coated abrasive for polishing and blending, or a non-woven surface conditioning product for effective finishing. The Standard Abrasives™ Rubber Sanding Drum offers an even application on contours and hard-to-reach areas with a rotary tool.
Tips for Optimal UseTo prevent skipping and bumping, it is important for both the drum and the abrasive to have the same nominal diameter. The spiral band stays in constant contact with the workpiece to swiftly rid the surface of little burrs. The maximum allowable RPM for spiral bands is the same as the maximum RPM of the drum, provided the drum and band have the same nominal diameter. The rubber drum attaches to portable drills, die grinders, straight shaft and angle grinders. The best part is that the drum requires no extra tools for band changes.
